My Little Pony CCG Update 2.2.7.2: Limited Play

Patch Notes 2.2.7.2

Changes

  • Added the Limited format of MLPCCG into OCTGN

Although this update is quite small with only one update, it is still quite a big gamechanger. Anyways, I have created a new page with instructions on how to get started with Limited. Check it out!

Other than this, I’m planning to make multiplayer work on OCTGN, so stay tuned for that. And perhaps, I might try to include a fan-made format called “Villain Challenge”… Tell me if you guys want to see that happen!

My Little Pony CCG: Colour feature with minor fixes Now Live 2.2.7.1

Patch Notes 2.2.7.1

Changes

  • New Colour feature which allows you to add colours to cards (Will explain more below)
  • Fixed the issue of error codes appearing if you close the Token selection menu
  • Added the secret #00 card from Marks in Time

With the Colour feature, you can add a colour highlight onto your cards. It is useful for cards like Kevin which require the player to pick a colour. In order to access it, just right click the card you wish to apply the colour to and hover over the “Colours” tab. You would be able to pick any of the mane 6 colours or remove the colour on the card.

Do note that this feature will only give a card a single colour so cards that can be two colours at once like Queen Chrysalis, Changeling Pretender will only be able to represent one colour. I’ll be working on improving this feature with coloured counters instead of highlights in the future.

My Little Pony CCG: Major update with Marks in Time Now Live 2.2.7.0

Hey guys, I’m GameMasterLuna, one of the new personnel who is going to keep this game going. Some of you would know who I am but for those who don’t, I’m the guy who has been making unofficial updates to OCTGN and made the new Ponyhead to OCTGN converter. It is a great pleasure to finally make one of my latest update official and live on OCTGN for all of you to enjoy. Without further ado, let’s get into the updates!

Set Changes

  • Marks in Time Added – Cutie Mark Crusaders cutie markers… Yay?
  • High Magic and Equestrian Odysseys Updated – Changed multi-coloured friends, events and resources to use the new proxy generation

Misc Changes

  • New Proxy template for Multi-coloured cards and Dilemmas
  • New Token generation feature
  • Minor fixes to Problem cards

For those who were wondering what happened to V2.2.6.0, it was the update that added Equestrian Odysseys into OCTGN. Anyways, I hope you guys enjoy the new update and I’ll see you on OCTGN!

Changing of the Royal Guard

Back in 2013 and shortly after the release of Premiere, I set out to do a plug-in for the MLP CCG. Primarily because I found the game interesting and I wanted to make sure people buying the game had the opportunity and tools to playtest and enjoy playing it. The fandom that makes up the core audience for this game is and always has been in large part an internet community, and one that is quite diverse geographically. Some players live in places with numerous others to playtest with, while some live in places without much in the way of a “herd” nearby.

It’s a couple years later with an explosion of new sets and cards flowing out there and the tournament scene ratcheting ever upwards, I find that I don’t have the time to keep managing things like I once did. The last couple patches have mostly been the work of a group of players who have the time and capability to keep this game up-to-date and provide timely patches. I think they’ve done an excellent job, and have asked them to take it from here.

I hope that whatever contribution I’ve made is one that has brought some measure of fun and happiness to people, and has brought friends the ability to play and better enjoy a great game together. I wish everybody the best of luck.

 

PS: There have been some questions regarding the Ponyhead-to-OCTGN converter and newer sets. This was a side-project I’d built that took advantage of the way the set files were being generated for the plug-in itself – a process that still required a good bit of manual effort initially to get new sets loaded. The new guys have built their own process for better automating the creation of new set files, which sadly means the converter that exists today will no longer receive updates. Perhaps somebody can pick up where this leaves off.

Still Alive

It’s been a while since this page was updated, so I wanted assure folks that this plug-in is still alive, and AD is intended to be added soon. Things have been quite busy, and it may be time to bring more people on board to help with keeping updates flowing at a faster pace. As with many of the plug-ins hosted on this directory, this plug-in is open source – if you know what you are doing and wish to contribute, pull requests that function as-is and improve things are both welcome and reviewed for inclusion in the main plug-in.

To clarify a point that has been emailed a few times, this plugin does not come with images – it stands alone as a tool for personal use with playtesting and deckbuilding, but the cool art and card designs are not ours to give. OCTGN does have functionality built in that allows users to replace the text proxies this plug-in creates with whatever you want, but keep in mind that is basic OCTGN functionality and not something the plug-in itself is involved with.

Set Changes

  • Missing Luna/Rarity Manes Added – Princess Luna – The Party’s Over (cn4) and Rarity – Mover and Shaker (cn8) are now correctly added.

Card Template Changes

  • Template Images at Least 20% Cooler – Massive change to the generation of automatic template images for cards. Abion47 undertook an incredible effort to hand-make templates for use in Magic Set Editor, and was so awesome that he shared his assets with us. His MSE plug-in also features the ability to export homemade sets into OCTGN format, allowing easy playtesting of any homebrew creations. Many thanks to his great talent and effort!

  • Mark Card as Pumped (F8) – Now automatically pushes the Pump card to go behind other cards.

Gameplay Changes

  • Mark Card as Pumped (F8) – F8 will create a special border around cards on the table that marks them as Pump cards (and makes it easy to tell they aren’t “in play.” A card marked as a Pump card will not get automatically returned to your deck when you do a Cleanup Faceoff (Alt+C).
  • We suggest that you use the Alt+X command to roll an any-sided die to handle the new cards that require selection of a random target. The easiest way to manage this is to just assign each card a number from left-to-right, then roll the die and select whichever one’s number came up.
  • You can resolve Goof-Off’s effect against your opponent’s Problem Deck by right-clicking on their deck and using the “Look at Top X” to see the top card. You can then tell them to either leave it on top or move it to the bottom (which can be done by dragging the card and dropping it in the lower third of the deck – a down arrow will appear and the card will go to the bottom of the deck).
